Gloucester City AFC are delighted to announce we will be hosting “Clash of the County” at the TigerTurf Stadium, on Friday, December 2 at 7pm, with doors open from 6pm. Legends and past heroes of Gloucester City, Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers will battle it out in a round-robin style tournament for the county’s bragging rights.
Jay Marriott, CEO of Gloucester City AFC had this to say:
"First of all, thanks to both Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers for their support with this idea - without them behind us, we wouldn’t have been able to get this off the ground.
Being able to honour the past servants of our clubs is such an important and uplifting feeling for all involved.
Nostalgia in sport is a really powerful thing and for many it’s a return to some great memories as players, staff and more importantly fans.
Getting an event like this on a Friday night under the floodlights will be something special for all and we hope fans from all clubs come out and enjoy it with us."
The format for the event will be three, 30-minute games with 15 minute breaks between each match.
Food, drink and live music will be available and doors will open at 6pm. Following the conclusion of the games, supporters will be able to meet their former heroes for pictures, autographs or just a good trip down memory lane.
Tickets are available for the tournament here, with adults paying just £5 for entry and £1 for U16's.
Old rivalries die hard, who will come out on top in the Clash of the County? Details of players who are involved will be released over the next few weeks.
We're looking forward to seeing fans of all three clubs coming together for what should be an entertaining evening at the TigerTurf Stadium.
