Gloucester City vs Poole Town- Preview with the boss Mike Cook

Gloucester City boss Mike Cook is hoping his side get over a run of five winless games in a row in all competitions when they play playoff challenging Poole Town at the TigerTurf Stadium.

After the Tigers stunning fightback to come from 4-0 down away at Walton and Hersham to draw in the last embers of the game through Joe Hanks, Cook admits that fightback has brought positivity in the camp despite recent poor form.

"I think we are much more positive about it than Walton would be because they thought they would have had the three points, although it was a relief at the end of the game it is what we deserved.

Bottom line was we did score five goals, they scored four, we had one of those disallowed, if anything when you are three or four days on from the game, you think you could have possibly have won it.

Grateful to get that draw in the end and I think it will be a positive thing for us going forward for a bit of confidence and self esteem, we will take everything we can out of that into the game on Saturday

While the conditions caused havoc on Saturday, the introductions of substitutions including Dan Ball and Stanley Obinna made a real impact and has ensured that the boss has decisions to make as City head into the busy festive schedule.

"Stan's in line for a start, the subs that came on Saturday did really well when they came on, really changed it for us, it will get to a point where you need to chuck them in and you need to give them a chance to see what they can do.

"Two or three might need a rest anyway, with playing almost 20 games on the trot with cup matches so this could be a game to have a rest and obviously we have next week off so if we still have Daws (Kevin Dawson) that's out and Pinch (Harry Pinchard out that gives us another week to get them right so they could be in line for that 14th of December."

After Stan joined last week, the boss hinted at further additions to shape a squad that had been

running thin wiith injuries and suspensions.

"We are talking to a few at the moment, we've just got to try and move a couple players about, going into a heavy period of games over the next month so we need to make sure that we have 19/20 minimum whether that's fit or not in the squad and sign a couple of fringe players that may get a phone call at short notice and can turn up for us.

"We have got to be able to cover all basis, certainly in the last few years that i've been a manager the Christmas period can be tricky."

As for the two other sides vying for the title in the Southern Premier Divison South, Merthyr Town go away to Bracknell who last defeated the Tigers at the TigerTurf, while AFC Totton who are three games behind schedule play host to Swindon Supermarine.
